Location: De Pere, WI / Southfield, MI

Position Summary:

Electrical Project Engineer - will be responsible for all phases of Electrical Engineering and design for Lithium-ion Battery Projects.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Design and program, PLC-based industrial control panels for Lithium-Ion Battery equipment (including burner controls)
  • Provide hand sketches of control system hardwire & panel layouts for use by AutoCAD/EPlan designers
  • Specify all control panel components
  • Work with Mechanical Engineering to develop system P&ID drawings
  • Write system sequence of operations
  • Write PLC & HMI Programs
  • Write project electrical installation scopes of work
  • Review control panel fabrication when completed and work with shop personnel on control panel checkout and initial set-up in the shop
  • Work closely with project start-up and commissioning team to answer operational and programming questions during start-up
  • Work on-site if necessary to assist with system commissioning
  • Maintain project budget for electrical project equipment
  • Maintain project budget engineering hours

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code, and UL508a requirements.
  • 5 or more years of experience with electrical engineering design for industrial controls and panels
  • Experience with SIEMENS PLC and HMI programming a must. (TIAPortal 1500 series and Comfort Panels)
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming a must. (RSLogix5000, FactoryTalk View, Studio 5000)
  • Experience with industrial networking: Ethernet IP, Modbus, ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Devicenet, etc.
  • Knowledge of variable frequency drives, panel wiring, electrical field installation, and costs.
  • Experience with instrumentation and process control
  • Understanding of process instrumentation drawings (P&IDs), flow diagrams, and instrument symbols and functions
  • Design engineering calculation ability
  • Able to read and interpret AutoCAD/EPlan drawings
  • Ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Visio
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary

The following additional, non-essential qualifications are a plus:

  • Experience with Siemens control hardware and software
  • Knowledge of NFPA 86 (Standard for Ovens and Furnaces)
  • Allen Bradley safety PLC's- Guard PLC and GuardLogix
  • Siemens Safety PLC and systems
  • Knowledge of SIL systems, requirements, and certification
  • Knowledge of SAP

Additional Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and be able to pass a drug test at any time during employment.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, the incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distance vision. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to:

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Climb ladders or stairs

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days & hours of work vary based on need. May be required to work holidays or weekends. Overtime may be required.

Travel:

This position requires limited to travel, around 10%. Travel can be both overnight and during the business day and can be both local and international.
