Position Description

Concordia University is now seeking applicants for two full-time faculty positions in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. This is a twelve-month contract with the University. Full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. Faculty members participate in curriculum development and assessment, and advise and mentor students while serving as Christian role-models. These positions report to the Director of the Physical Therapy Program and the Dean of the School of Health Profession and is at the CUW Mequon, WI campus. All Concordia University faculty are members of Christian congregations; members of the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod are particularly encouraged to apply.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Each faculty member is expected to comply with all rules and regulations for University faculty as outlined in the CU and Faculty Handbooks. In addition, each has the following responsibilities:

  1. Academic
  • Teach 24 academic credits per year, or the equivalent
  • Participate actively in curriculum development and assessment
  • Hold 10 office hours each week when classes are in session
  • Teach in both our traditional DPT and weekend-intensive PTA to DPT bridge program
  1. Scholarship
  • Perform research, scholarship or creative activities according to the standards established in the CU Faculty handbook
  • Meet CAPTE criteria for active scholarship and research agenda
  1. Service
  • Serve actively on committees within the department, school and/or university
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising and mentoring
  • Attend opening service, faculty retreat and commencement exercises
  • Attend and participate in plenary faculty meetings and the annual faculty retreat

Position Requirements

  • Current Wisconsin licensure as a physical therapist, or eligibility for Wisconsin license
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, or entry-level physical therapy degree (BSPT, MPT, DPT) and post-professional academic doctoral degree in a related field (PhD, EdD, ScD, etc.)
  • Previous teaching experience in an entry-level physical therapy education program, physical therapist assistant program and/or clinical supervision of physical therapy students during clinical education experiences
  • Clinical and academic preparation working with adults with neurological disorders and/or orthopedic disorders, wound care and gait dysfunction
  • Working knowledge of and application of Evidence Based Practice principles, Exercise Physiology/Wellness, Practice Management, Movement Science (motor learning and control), Neuroscience and/or Biomechanics
  • Board Certified Clinical Specialist (ABPTS) is an advantage
