POSITION: Project Engineer
LOCATION: Austin, Texas

Position Summary: The Construction Project Engineer leads multiple construction operations for the company's construction projects. The Construction Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with coordination of day-to-day construction project activities required to successfully complete a project. This person will assist with cost controls, budgeting and subcontractor/vendor management, as well as, engineering designs, technical research, including plans, specifications, and reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule support Project Manager and Superintendent in managing the job schedule and determining critical path.
  • Submittals manage materials submittal process
  • Budget support Project Manager in development of budget
  • Buy Out support Project Manager effort to validate budget, buying out and contract the job
  • RFI manage the RFI process with field and design consultants
  • Pay Application support Project Manager in developing and distribution of pay application, change orders and lien releases
  • Information Management - coordinate the preparation of data tabulation, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Assist in coordination of meetings, report production and development of agendas and meeting notes.
  • Contract negotiation
  • Understand scope of subcontractor's work and quantities of materials
  • Field- perform field assignments including problem solving, materials inventory, design interpretation, punch walk, owner walks, work completion audits.
  • Documentation - maintain field notes and photo documentation as required.
  • Communication - assists with sub-contractor and vendor contacts and communication.
  • Warranty - manage construction warranty and close out jobs

The Construction Project Engineer should demonstrate competence in some or all of the following:

  • General Microsoft Office Products
  • Self-motivated with the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, expedite, follow through to project completion.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, present data, meet time sensitive deadlines, and carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with colleagues, vendors, and subcontractors. Must be able to explain scopes of work (RFP) and obtain quotes from vendors.
  • Effective organizational skills to maintain deliverables, analytical results, soil testing and compaction results, and field notes in project files.
  • Effective writing skills to assist with report writing, proposal preparation, and engineering/construction cost estimates.
  • Able to work effectively in group settings or independently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 4+ years' related experience in construction industry
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, present data, meet time sensitive deadlines, and carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
