Job Summary: |
Performs complex work in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuits. Work involves installing, replacing, and maintaining electrical systems, apparatus, components of machinery, and equipment. May provide guidance to others. Works under minimal supervision, with partial latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. |
Essential Job Functions: |
Note: This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. Manage inventory of materials, obtain price quotes, order and receive parts. b. Recommend improvements for energy efficient motors, large repairs, lighting and other components. c. Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, circuits, and electrical components of machinery and equipment. d. Set up regular maintenance schedule for electrical equipment, replace electrical motors, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electronic components of electrical equipment. e. Assist in changing out or repair light fixtures in and around the building. f. Participate in vehicle maintenance. g. Program new traffic control systems in accordance with approved plans. h. Maintain accurate records of time and materials used in the maintenance and repair history of all electrical equipment. i. Operate bucket truck, dump trucks during signal repair or installation of new signals. j. Wires circuits and cleans and tightens low-voltage switch gears. k. Plans the layout of electrical wiring to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes. l. Manage the maintenance and renovation of electrical service. m. Performs related work and reports as assigned. |

Required Education: |
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency. |
Education Preference: |
Community college, vocational business, technical, or correspondence school certificates are likely sources. |

Required Work Experience: |
Requires three (3) years' experience in commercial type installation electrical work, magnetic starters, and motor control circuits. |
Experience Preference: |
Five (5) years' experience in related field. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
a. Requires a working knowledge of electrical processes of pump panel motors. b. Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. c. Work involves a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization. d. Intermediate computer skills in a Microsoft Windows programs. e. Ability to diagnose electrical problems and repair minor ones; knowledge of low to high voltage trouble-shooting techniques for pumps panels and motors; ability to read schematic drawings. f. Knowledge of City and National electrical codes, of safety and accident prevention procedures, and skills in utilizing special electrical tools. |
