Job Summary:

Performs maintenance and repairing of water/wastewater plant equipment and facilities and other plant equipment. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions:

a. Maintain proper operation of pumps, motors and pumping station.

b. Preform periodic maintenance and repair to plant equipment, grounds, and water and chemical feed lines at plant facilities.

c. Operate a variety of medium equipment and maintain maintenance and repair records.

d. May assist with the cleaning of sedimentation basins and clarifiers.

e. Maintains records, structures, and run lab tests for PH levels.

f. Inspect job sites for any damages to perform appropriate maintenance.

g. Perform maintenance on vehicles, to include oil changes, tire pressure check, air filter replacement and troubleshoot engine repairs.

h. Perform related work and reports as assigned.

Conditions of Employment:

b. Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.

c. Must have a current valid class "B" CDL driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.

d. Achieve TCEQ Class "D" Surface Water License (Water Plant) or Wastewater Plant License within first (1) year of employment.

e. Achieve TCEQ Class "C" Surface Water License (Water Plant) or Wastewater Plant License within three (3) year of employment.

Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.

Requires under and including one (1) year experience working in a surface water treatment plant, and or wastewater treatment plant.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

a. Requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, or temporary employees.

b. Requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.

c. Requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization.

d. Requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes.

e. Must possess familiarity with emergency power generator operations and minor repairs.

f. Basic electrical knowledge.
