Law Week Colorado is searching for a Reporter to join our team. You'll work with the editorial team to research, write and publish articles for Law Week's digital issues as well as the Law Week Colorado website.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop ideas, report and write content for Law Week Colorado's weekly digital publication.
  • Conduct interviews by email, phone, or face-to-face
  • Produce Internet news stories and/or blogs in compact, easy to read paragraphs
  • Complete assigned journalistic feature pieces for Law Week Colorado
  • Write eye-catching headlines for stories
  • Ensure that a piece's facts are correct and verified
  • Write stories and produce other media for web publication ranging from reporting breaking news to developing feature-length pieces and interviews
  • Find fresh angles on stories or novel methods of presenting them
  • Incorporate text, graphics, and videos into stories and work with the Managing Editor to ensure that content added appears correctly on the site
  • Engage with readers or site visitors on social media to respond to questions or address concerns about the published piece
  • Find and interview sources, verify information, and conduct background research
  • Present facts correctly and accurately quote sources
  • Submit all stories to an editor for review
  • Assist in production of multimedia pieces such as podcasts and videos
  • Assist in copy editing and proofreading of Law Week Colorado
  • Find and create relevant and interesting content for social media outlets, namely Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Promote stories and other content on social media sites
  • Maintain a content calendar and facilitate an approval process with designated team members
  • Track metrics and analytics of social and web activity, run tests as necessary to improve upon metrics, overall performance/web presence
  • Design digital campaigns that improve our brand presence and boost brand awareness
  • Stay informed on current events related to Law Week's coverage focus
  • Regularly track and gain insights into competitors' strategies
  • Collaborate with fellow team members and different teams within Circuit Media to ensure Law Week Colorado's success
  • Submit additional materials if needed to ensure Law Week Colorado's content is accessible to persons with disabilities
  • Complete any other administrative or editorial duties as assigned

An ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • 2-4 years of reporting experience
  • Experience using WordPress
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Marketing or public relations experience is a plus
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to use various tones and formats to present information to readers
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Strong creative skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent analytical and research abilities
  • Proven ability to work with a team and independently
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Familiarity with accessibility considerations
