SUMMARY


The Manager, Material Management is part of the Manufacturing Operations team. This position will be relied upon to support all organization, programs and proposals/pursuits requirements related to Material Management, Production and Planning operations. Material management includes but is not limited to Inventory Management, counts, receiving, warehousing and relevant functions from barcoding and scanning perspective. The Manager, Material Management collaborates effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, such as Engineering, Finance, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Program Management and Sales to understand the business objectives, identify the gaps in current processes, procedures and drive/implement corrective actions and solutions. He or she will serve as the focal point for all Skyline Champion plants to develop or champion new concepts or technologies. This position is responsible for creating workforce and staffing plans for team or department to ensure availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results. This position manages experienced professionals, lower level supervisors, or managers; often leads one or more teams or a department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support leadership in the development of scalable business, recommends and implements enhancements to improve current processes, systems, tools and development of new processes. Champion's efforts to drive Supply Chain decision making and improve results within Supply Chain Management, such as cost management, performance metrics, labor utilization, source selection, competition, and critical path parts identification.
  • Using LEAN/Six Sigma and critical thinking skills to propose sound and innovative business solutions that contribute to business unit success. Actively supports Business Development meetings and recommends material management improvement strategies to increase plant's operational efficiency.
  • Responsible for driving the team to maintain proper management of inventory, floor stock, production orders, and achieve seamless integration of Material Management and Production Operations organizational requirements.
  • Certifies organization manages inventories of As-Required and Shelf-Life materials to minimize cost and waste.
  • Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure.
  • Perform weekly factory and warehouse walkthroughs to supervise employees and production practices
  • Responsible for leading and acting as an enabler of supply chain kick offs and critical decision-making discussions. In case of discrepancies, work with Program managers and Finance to correct funding allocation as necessary
  • Responsible for supporting organization's escalation of critical items and for independently working with other functions to bring items to closure and prevent higher escalation.
  • Independently manages projects up to implementation/deployment and participate and/or leads projects and project teams as assigned. Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Support all audits to include Compliance, Quality, Production, Safety and other required audits and reviews
  • Support Program and Proposal reviews and resolves Supply Chain concerns related to supplier cost, schedule, lead times, technical performance, and ensures proposal complies and supports Skyline Champion objectives
  • Manage Material Management organization and ensure utilization of ABC inventory strategies and MRP to effectively time-phase material to service cash flow objectives and program schedule.
  • Establishes, track, and report status and performance and program metrics to Supply Chain Executive leadership and Division's General Manager as required.
  • Ensure material strategy meets program financial objectives and commitments
  • Responsible for driving critical Supply Chain issues to closure related to schedule, material, procurements and operations across the Division, and escalates critical events to direct, functional and executive leadership as needed.
  • Monitor's activities against department objectives and submit performance reports to management.
  • Knowledge and prior experience with barcoding and scanning handheld processes
  • Knowledge and prior experience with Oracle ERP Cloud will be a plus



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Education, Training and/or Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related fields
  2. Previous working experience in Supply Chain or Materials Manager for 5+ year(s), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  3. In depth knowledge of supply chain and inventory management
  4. Hands on experience with forecasting and budgeting
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills
  6. Analytical thinking with problem solving aptitude
  7. Outstanding communication and leadership skills
  8. CPIM/CSCP certification is a plus, not required

Knowledge and Skills

  1. Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts.
  2. Demonstrated experience in leading multiple sites in Material Management compliance
  3. Demonstrated experience in conducting cross plant monthly meetings, scheduling annual internal reviews, review results, assist in implementing any required corrective actions and SOPs
  4. Demonstrated experience in reporting and participating with the corporate compliance working group
  5. Implementation of functional strategies and recommends operational plans that directly impact the short- to mid-term function or division results
  6. Demonstrated experience in identifying and maintaining material management training needs and for the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to augment and benefit organization's skills set.

WORK LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS


  • Weekend and evening support may be required at times (i.e., Implementations-related scheduled work and unplanned outages)
  • Willingness to travel to regional business offices, manufacturing facilities, and other locations as required – Up to 50% travel
  • Remote work is acceptable with periodic travel to core locations for engagement and interaction with key stakeholders and leadership
