Infection Control Specialist at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Honolulu, Hawaii, Warrior Ohana Medical Facility, located in Kapolei, Hawaii, Desmond Doss Health Clinic and the Warrior Transition Battalion on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
Updating and validating our TAMC's 2023 Hospital Infection Control Risk Assessment and Annual
Infection Control Plan
Validating compliance with Sterile Processing Department and High, Intermediate and Low Level
Disinfection industry and TJC compliance
Assistance with facility Infection Control Risk Assessments and Infection Control construction permitting
based on established hospital policy for all construction projects in the hospital
Assistance with Hospital-associated Infection and Multi-drug Resistant Organisms surveillance hospital
wide review of the hospital Water Management Plan
Improvement of our hospital hygiene program
Assisting with tasks to support a comprehensive infection prevention and control program
Surveillance for communicable diseases/conditions; prevention & control of healthcare associated infections
(HAI); HAI surveillance, High Level Disinfection (HLD) and sterile processing oversight with industry standard and
hospital policy surveillance and tracking of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO)
Assisting in completion of infection control risk assessments and infection control permitting of
construction projects at TAMC
Ensuring compliance with policies and standards of the Federal government agencies (e.g., OSHA), The
Defense Health Agency, U.S. Army Medical Command, The Joint Commission, Hawaii Department of Health and
other regulatory agencies
Completing infection control tasks ensuring patient and hospital safety and compliance with established
industry and TJC standards as they would be reviewed during a TJC scheduled survey or a future random
unannounced survey
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: The contract Infection Control Specialist shall have a minimum of 3 years performing the
following:
Infection Control in an inpatient medical facility and performing Infection Control Risk Assessments
Infection Control input into construction permitting in inpatient and outpatient facilities,
Expertise in sterile processing, including expertise in high, intermediate and low level disinfection,
Expertise in hospital hand hygiene programs
Expertise in tracking hospital-associated infections and reporting to National Healthcare
Safety Network
Expertise in multi-drug resistant organisms surveillance
Expertise in ensuring a comprehensive hospital water management plan and
Experience in issues at the environment of care and infection control interface
Preferred Qualifications

Working Conditions
07:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and official government holidays. All shifts include a 30-minute (non-paid) meal break and two 15-minute breaks (paid). No overtime.
