Open positions are listed below. Each position is classified as full-time, part-time, variable hour or seasonal. Only those candidates available, seeking and selecting the appropriate classification for the posted position will be considered.

Full–time Employees: Regularly scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Hours of work are defined by the employee’s Collective Bargaining Agreement or Human Resources Policy Manual.

Part-time Employees: Can work no more than 29 hours per week and can remain on the schedule year round. Hours are not guaranteed and hours are scheduled based on availability, budget and the operational needs of the department.

Variable Hour Employees: Hours fluctuate week to week. Work hours are determined based on work load and availability. An employee in this position will primarily work during a defined season and may be scheduled to work intermittently during the remainder of the year.

Seasonal Employees: Work for a defined period of time during the calendar year (typically 4 to 6 months). Employees in this classification may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week during the period of seasonal employment. Hours are not guaranteed and hours are scheduled based on availability, budget and the operational needs of the department.

Contract Basis Only: In general, this classification is assigned to self-employed business owners or contractors who provide services to Canton Township in which Canton has the right to control or direct only the result of the work and not what will be done and how it will be done. Individuals assigned to 'Contract Basis Only' are not Township employees and they will be required to sign an Independent Contractor Agreement before performing any services for Canton Township.
