The Head Start program is in need of 2 Health Services Associates. The Health Services Associate organizes and maintains record systems for health, nutrition, and mental health according to established procedures and instructions. Performs a variety of clerical duties. This position pays $13.80 per hour and does not work during the summer. Please see the attached full job description.

The National Office of Head Start mandates that staff be fully vaccinated or have an approved vaccine exemption request approved and on file prior to hire date.

Sign On Bonus up to $2,000.00 is available.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum of three years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in a health/medical related organization and/or community agency serving children and families.

Experience working with Microsoft Office and a preferred background in ChildPlus Professional Head Start Management Software or an equivalent data-collection system.

In addition, should have knowledge of medical terminology, data entry skills, and recording and tracking of information skills.


Position Duties/Responsibilities

Works with medical and dental clinics to obtain follow up on all health requirements needing further evaluation and/or treatment


Documents all attempts to obtain health requirements, completed health requirements, and all follow up on children needing further evaluation and/or medical/dental treatment, as described in the CACS Health Manual


Reviews child files to determine each child's health needs and complete the child's health summary


Utilizes the Michigan Care Improvement Registry to obtain child immunization records, attaches it, and enters the status, as described in the CACS Health Manual


Completes evidence-based hearing and vision screens for Head Start children, under the direction of the Health Services Manager, as needed


Answers incoming phone calls and initiates phone contact in a professional and courteous manner as it relates to the health services department.


Retrieves and files health requests and other health related information.


Routes health information and questions to appropriate program staff according to established protocol.


Inventories organizes, and helps distribute health materials and supplies.


Makes referrals for internal parent trainings or classes offered onsite or to partner opportunities.
