Due to our continued growth, we have an awesome opportunity for a talented HVAC Technician to join the BG team on the Central State University campus in Wilberforce, OH.


About the role: There are over 30 buildings on the college campus with a lot of newer technology. The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining all building maintenance, troubleshoot and repair, and inspection of the HVAC equipment. Specifically hot water boilers, air-cooled chillers, and rooftop units. With the variety of HVAC equipment on campus, there is never a dull moment. The team on campus has great comradery and everyone helps each other. There may be times you are asked to assist or respond to plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing, and electrical concerns.


What you will do:

  • Provide excellent customer service to the client
  • Monitor and inspect HVAC systems and their components (e.g., heating units, building exhaust fans, pumps, ventilation units, building automation controls, etc.) to evaluate condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems to identify equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs
  • Perform and schedule maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to HVAC equipment and building automation controls to ensure the ongoing functioning of HVAC systems
  • Assist with general maintenance issues: minor plumbing repairs, snake drains, repair drywall, painting, change light fixtures/bulbs, replace electrical sockets, light switches, etc...
  • Inform management personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders to provide information for making decisions, taking appropriate action, and/or complying with building and safety regulations
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair
  • Respond to emergencies after hours, if available
  • Complete work orders and requests promptly using the client management software
  • Follow all policies and procedures established in the Brewer-Garrett Manuals and Client Contract documents
  • Maintain vehicle (if applicable), tools, communication devices (i.e., iPad, phone, laptop), and equipment to ensure availability in safe operating condition
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions

What you need to succeed:

  • High school/trade school graduate/ military school or apprentice program
  • A Universal CFC License
  • Valid Drivers License
  • 5+ years of related experience and technical training in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Systems
  • Working knowledge and understanding of BAS Control Systems
  • Broad knowledge of tools, instrumentation with extensive expertise in HVAC/R.
