ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY
Surface Water Plant Operator
East Williamson County Water Treatment Plant - Granger
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The purpose of this position is to safely operate and maintain surface water treatment plants; ensure compliance with TCEQ/EPA regulations; regulate process controls; and maintain plant efficiency. This is accomplished by collecting samples; performing analyses on water samples for process monitoring and reportable analysis; monitoring the operation of the plant; adjusting plant valves, flows, and backwash schedules; adjusting chemical dosages as needed; running various analytical tests; calibrating and maintaining lab and equipment; entering data from lab analysis; and conducting local laboratory testing. Other responsibilities include assisting with training and mentoring less-experienced operators; working within budget guidelines; performing general and preventative plant maintenance; ensuring discharged water is good quality; ordering supplies and chemicals for treatment; properly maintaining buildings and grounds; maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment; and any other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in all sections of water treatment systems including materials, methods, and techniques used in construction, maintenance, and electrical repairs; vehicle maintenance and repair; methods, practices, and equipment used in a water laboratory; state and federal regulations regarding water treatment; and basic knowledge of chemistry; and safety procedures and first aid training.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:. High school graduation, or its equivalent, and five years of experience in water treatment system operations; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
POSTING DATE: May 24, 2021 - Open until filled.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position will require some rotating 24-hour on-call duty for emergency calls.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Current Texas driver's license and a good driving record are required. A Class B Water License is preferred.

SALARY: Each of these positions is non-exempt.
$22.41 to $28.58 per hour Lead Plant Operator Class A Surface Water License
$20.87 to $26.61 per hour Sr. Plant Operator Class B Surface Water License
$18.19 to $23.20 per hour Plant Operator Class C Surface Water License
