REPORTING ANALYST, BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SERVICES
Full-Time Permanent - Competition #21-72

Position Summary

As part of the Business Intelligence Services department, the Reporting Analyst is responsible for developing ad hoc and operational reports to continuously enhance ASEBP's ability to fulfill its mandate. This position will be responsible for developing reports and conducting analyses on a wide variety of issues using various sources of business data and communicating findings and related interpretations/observations with primarily, but not exclusively, an internal audience. The Reporting Analyst will work closely with internal business customers and subject matter experts.

Your Key Responsibilities

Report of ASEBP data

  • Develop solutions to reporting and information requirements by analyzing information needs and developing reports for ASEBP's internal and external clients.
  • Respond to reporting requests from business areas.
  • Provide advice on and interpretation of corporate data.
  • Define, develop and manage automated processes that transform data from different source formats into consistent formats.
  • Develop solutions based on information requirements.
  • Create queries to support ad hoc requests for data and reports that integrate a full view of the business need into actionable information.
  • Create stored procedures used by complex reporting solutions.
  • Document procedures and automated processes (e.g. how data from different sources is converted into consistent formats).
  • Action day-to-day report requests.

Develop regularly scheduled reports

  • Support the Executive team's reporting to the Board by preparing regularly monthly, semi-annual and annual reports; add and amend reports as requested.
  • Prepare charts/tables for complex Health Benefits Claims Experience Reports. Support the team responsible for delivery and related discussions with ad hoc reporting.
  • Support with external data exchange processes.

Ongoing maintenance and support of existing T-SQL and SSRS reports

  • Troubleshooting, monitoring, performance improvement and administration functions SSRS.
  • Establish, maintain and review operational reports and take corrective action as needed.
  • Regularly update queries, reports, etc. to ensure accuracy (e.g. process changes could impact data and resulting reports and/or interpretation).
  • Identifies any data issues with the data warehouse and other source systems.

Your Education and Experience

  • Completion of a two-year technical or community college certificate in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of related experience.
  • Demonstrable experience working with:
    • Microsoft Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Data Models
    • Database design & SQL Server
    • Other Microsoft programs.

  • Strong SQL, T-SQL, query writing abilities and interpreting trends or patterns
  • Comfort with query optimization, filtering and cleansing data
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize workflow and priorities.
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to meet varying client needs.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, perseverance and integrity.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects over varying timelines.
  • Strong communication, presentation & interpersonal skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
