Position Summary:

Responsible for the manufacturing assessment of non-conformities, late changes to support production, on-site training of new manufacturing engineering employees, and updating master data for the documentation package that accompanies the aircraft. Responds to technical questions and explains work orders/drawings, especially for aircraft mechanical related items. Establishes and maintains effective communications with FAL production and serves as on-site interface to the back office in Hamburg.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handle non-conformities within assigned area, create specific work orders for FAL rework, establish/verify the technical content of non-conformities, and validate in documentation.
  • Provide technical support to production on all issues including oversight of directed changes.
  • Initiate availability of replacement parts, jigs, and tools required for work.
  • Manage continuous improvement measures with reoccurring non-conformities in cooperation with quality.
  • Analyze current status, create reports, exchange information and regularly inform the European manufacturing engineering back office about all notified changes in production.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate as an active team member including providing orientation support to new colleagues and trainees.
  • Initial training depends on the qualification level and will be up to 18 months to cover all aspects of manufacturing engineering.
  • Responsible for incorporating implicit knowledge into these instructions and refine them in terms of language, level of detail and regulation assignment to ensure operations has the correct information for the aircraft build.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Experience:

  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings
  • Excellent MS Office application, as well as experience in analyzing data
  • High degree of flexibility and initiative

Education:

  • Required: Pursing degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, at an accredited 2 year or 4 year school.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Required:
    • Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and tools used in manufacturing engineering.
    • Knowledge of supply chain management and quality system management.
    • Knowledge about non-conformities and design query notes.
  • Preferred:
    • Knowledge of Airbus Industries mechanical process & methods.
    • Knowledge of Airbus IT-Tools (TiCon, Zamiz, TAKSY, MODA, DocMaster).
    • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP/R3 (Module PP/PM).
    • Knowledge about aircraft structure installation.
    • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.
    • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations and practice

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Proficient knowledge of basic written and spoken English.

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs)

  • Ability to build/maintain strong relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work a first shift or second shift schedule.

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: able to see and utilize fine work tools, computer screens; able to move through office and from point to point to find specific co-workers and in-house experts.
  • Hearing: able to hear in normal conversations and respond to warnings, signals and alarms.
  • Speaking: able to participate in normal business conversations.
  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to use work tools defined in job description with skill and acceptable results; able to operate standard office equipment and utilize electronic id to enter building.
  • Carrying: able to carry up to 40 lbs. /18kg. when transporting documents, printer paper and similar items.
  • Lifting: able to lift up to 40lbs/18kg. On occasion.
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push/pull equipment, tools, production carts and office chairs and pieces of equipment.
  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a machine, on a tool bench or computer terminal while writing bulletins or participating in meetings.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to regularly squat/kneel to access items or tools stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for long periods of time in meetings and discussions.
  • Travel: able to travel through office/work complex and occasionally within US and internationally for business meetings.
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas sometimes on uneven surfaces to obtain items for work, retrieve/replace tools and to reach meetings, visitors and direct others to meetings.
