Summary Description

The Cost Accountant is responsible for establishing and maintaining the accuracy of Standard Costs of manufactured products. This position supports the manufacturing operations group with financial reporting, operational analysis, inventory analysis and budgeting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Product Costing - Responsible for establishing and maintaining standard costs of the location in the Oracle ERP system. Performs initial cost valuation of new items and revaluation of existing items as required.

Financial Reporting and Analysis - Monthly analysis of standard cost variances, other cost of sales, warranty, and General/Administrative expenses, utilizing Oracle, Excel, Qlik, and other systems as necessary. Analyze slow-moving inventory, establishing adequate reserve within company policy and addressing related issues.

Month end close - Assist with month end inventory reconciliations and create / post journal entries as needed.

Operations Support - Provide analysis and recommendations on purchasing and inventory management, working with buyers and general managers to improve inventory flow and costs.

Assist with the annual preparation of the local budget.


Provide financial support for capital appropriations

Analyze and report on warranty related expenses.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Education and/or Experience:

Undergraduate College Degree in Accounting or Finance.

At least 5+ years in manufacturing environment.

Oracle manufacturing experience is preferable.
