DAY-TO-DAY
This full-time teaching assistant position works a steady, year-round schedule.
As an Assistant Head Start Teacher, you play a critical role in our education program. Each day, you come to work ready to greet the children and their parents as they arrive at our center. Personable and friendly, you establish an atmosphere of acceptance and respect by being positive with everyone, which helps each child feel seen and heard. You then spend your day helping the teacher manage the classroom, handle the paperwork, follow the lesson plan, and track the children's progress.
Working in tandem, you take cues from the teacher and step in wherever you're needed. Classroom activities are an especially busy time, but they go smoothly because you actively engage the children and keep an eye out for any who are struggling with a task. You also help prepare the lessons for the next day. As you fulfill your duties, the teacher comes to rely on you, and the kids love having you there. You take great satisfaction in watching the children learn and grow through the education you help provide!
