A DAY IN THE LIFE OF HEAD START PROGRAM SUPPORT STAFF
As a program assistant, you are the vital support that maintains a successful development with our Head Start children. Excellent communication is greatly utilized for roughly 40% of the day as you assist classrooms by welcoming children and parents to the center, being a teacher's aide, and actively engaging with student activities and lessons. Critical thinking with impressive analysis and evaluation helps ensure the safety of children at all times, especially traveling for 20% of the time on the school bus. Organizational and time management skills shine in 20% of daily tasks where you prepare meals and snacks, set the tables, and guide the children in sanitary and hygiene measures of washing their hands and brushing their teeth. You feel a joyous accomplishment after each day knowing that your support for children makes the world of difference.
HEAD START PROGRAM SUPPORT STAFF QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License with current auto insurance
- Ability to pass all KCSL background checks
Our ideal program assistant preferably has volunteer or vocational experience working with young children, and is also bilingual! Are you an excellent communicator, both verbal and written? Do you have the ability to work independently and as a team? Are organizational and time management skills your strong suit? Can you multitask efficiently? If yes, we want you!
